Disambiguation
What Sexual Grounding Therapy® is not.
Because the field around sexuality is crowded and uneven, we publish a clear comparison. SGT is a specific clinical method — not a synonym for any of the practices below.
| SGT® | Tantra | Sexological coaching | Couples therapy | Medical / surgical | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frame | Group body-psychotherapy | Spiritual practice | Individual coaching | Systemic couples therapy | Medical / surgical |
| Training | 4+ years certified | Variable, often unregulated | Variable | 3–5 years (clinical) | Medical specialty |
| Sexual physical contact | No | Sometimes | No | No | Clinical only |
| Nudity | Within specific exercises, framed by consent | Variable | No | No | Clinical only |
| Setting | Closed group, two trainers | Open workshops | 1-to-1 | Couple + therapist | Consultation |
| Goal | Complete arrested developmental stages | Spiritual awakening | Skills, behaviour change | Repair the relational system | Treat dysfunction |
| Code of ethics | Published, enforced | Variable | Variable | Professional body | Medical board |
We respect each of the practices listed above when they are conducted ethically and within their proper frame. SGT was developed for a different purpose: to offer a structured, group-based, body-psychotherapeutic context in which the natural stages of psychosexual development can be revisited.
If you are looking for spiritual practice, individual coaching, couples mediation or medical care, those professions exist and we encourage you to seek the right specialist. If you sense that something earlier — developmental — is asking to be met, SGT may be what you are looking for.
